Outward Bound California does amazing things. In a time when young people are lonely, screen-focused, and alienated from nature, Outward Bound brings people together to experience meaningful challenges that develop leadership skills. They do this through multi-day and multi-week expeditions in the Sierras and Joshua Tree, and also through incredible ropes courses in urban areas including San Francisco. And this might be news to you, but two-thirds of OB participants receive financial assistance. In fact, Outward Bound California is a shining example for the entire OB network for how to successfully bring experiential education to a MUCH broader audience. This is one of many reasons I joined their board this year.

This outreach takes money. And our biggest fundraiser of the year is here now – The City Skyline Challenge. This challenge requires RAPPELLING off the 36th floor of the Grand Hyatt Union Square. Raising $3,000 will enable one staff member to take this plunge. And if I make it to $6,000, I will join the adventure as well. I’m hoping you will support this effort, at whatever level makes sense to you. I will match your donation dollar for dollar up to the level of my goal.
