Outward Bound for Veterans is a national program operated through Outward Bound charters throughout the nation, including Outward Bound California.
Since 1983, Outward Bound for Veterans has helped thousands of veterans and returning service members readjust to civilian life through fully-funded wilderness courses that emphasize the healing benefits of teamwork and challenge through the use of the natural world. Our unique course environments - including some of the most stunning wilderness in the United States - bridge the interpersonal and physical intensity of wartime experiences with the positive and rewarding experiences of Outward Bound to create emotional and cognitive change in the veteran's well-being.
"My Outward Bound experience probably saved my life. The guides didn't try to psychoanalyze us; rather, they gave us the time, space, and caring attitude to let us interact with other vets." - Former veteran course participant

In honor of veterans everywhere. And to my dad, Tony Patchell, USAF-retired, who was both a patient and later worked in the former Letterman Hospital, now the home ofOBCA!
