Join me for Outward Bound California's 2020 Rally for Resilience -- a two week event in which I will cycle 500 miles total! I chose this number because it’s approximately the distance from my house to the Sierra Nevadas and back -- a place where I completed two Outward Bound courses, and a place that will always have my heart. I’m raising $500, which will go towards OBCA’s work to break down barriers and increase access, particularly for students from under-resourced communities. Any amount you can spare would be so very appreciated.
The personal challenge is an element common to all Outward Bound courses. It's meant to be the culmination of the OB experience with an activity that helps students discover the extent of their capabilities.
This year, I’m creating my own personal challenge, during which I will cycle 500 miles total from October 16th to 30th.
This event will challenge, restore, and give back to the community. We are so excited because Rally for Resilience creates an opportunity that will directly benefit kids in San Francisco. With your support, all funds raised will support Ropes Course programs and attendance for students in OBCA’s partner schools. OBCA's new ropes challenge course, built in partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, is in McLaren Park, located in one of the most under-resourced neighborhoods in San Francisco, and will provide outdoor youth leadership training to students right in their backyards.
OBCA is working to break down barriers and increase access, particularly for students from under-resourced communities and those disproportionately affected by systemic racism, school closures, and lack of access to safe outdoor spaces. Your donation will support students attending the ropes course which is free of charge for almost all attending students, and help OBCA double the number of students they serve in California!
I’m raising $500, one dollar for every mile ridden. Any amount you can donate will help young people from economically vulnerable communities to get outside, challenge themselves, and discover that there is more in them than they realize. Even in this virtual space, we can be #ResilientTogether.
Sincerely, Caroline
Outward Bound California's FEIN is 26-4206241. Upon donating, you will be emailed a donation receipt for your record. To learn more, go to OBCA.org
